we need to talk.

or maybe just let me talk. i'll let you talk later.

sytycd, katie? really? you do?

so let’s get into the actual blogging now.

we need to talk … about tonight’s “so you think you can dance” episode.
let me begin by saying, after finding out that brandon was in the bottom two, i about turned it off. he is the short, stocky black man of my dreams. but when i realized that this was the episode in which katie “kate” holmes-cruise was going to do her tribute to judy garland, i just couldn’t bring myself to change the channel. so as i sit watching performances from past seasons (btw, wade robson is probably my baby daddy), i am just trying to contain my excitement to see her make a total ass out of herself. and finally … it happens.

after an interview with kat deely (who is more than welcome to give me some of that height that she’s working with), a pre-recorded video begins. i’m not sure if she was on the set of t.i.’s performance of “whatever you like” from the MTV music awards last year or what, but it was some kind of unnecessary. she commenses to singing and walking around this set, and i will admit, her singing wasn’t exactly “horrible” … but it was pretty damn close to bad. suddenly, they cut to the sytycd stage, where katie is surrounded by a bunch of men dancing around her like she is the sugar plum fairy. as katie is lip-syncing worse than britney could ever think about doing, she is basically running around and posing. no dancing necessary, katie? really? just a little hip action every other count? alright then. and to top it all off, judy garland’s son was in the audience. bless his heart. you know he said “wtf?” a time or two during the performance.

it just goes to show you, you should stick to what you know. just cause you love to sing and dance doesn’t mean that you should get on national television and do it. some things are meant to be left on the karaoke stage at the oyster bar or on the quixotes dance floor on wednesday nights (nice little auburn reference, eh?). lesson learned, katie “kate”.
